The role of First Contact Physiotherapists (FCPs) in Primary Care is to assess patients with an acute (less than six weeks) onset of soft tissue, muscle and joint pain and to decide on the most appropriate management pathway.
FCPs are physiotherapists with expertise in the assessment and management of Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions.
The FCP will assess the patient by telephone in the first contact and then decide on clinical need if the patient needs to be assessed face to face and then signpost them to the appropriate treatment.
If your problem is appropriate our Receptionist can signpost you to the First Contact Physiotherapists without the need to see a GP - please ask at reception for details.
