Clinics & Services

New Patient Registration Check

We advise all new patients registering with the practice to make an appointment to see one of our nurses, as soon as possible. The nurses enquire about relevant past medical history, check immunisations are up to date and carry out a simple health check.

Practice Nursing

The Practice Nurse role has developed in response to the changing demands on health-care professionals. This role enhances the care provided by offering greater access to a health-care professional and a more effective service. Appointments are available with one of our Practice Nurses or Health Care Assistants (HCA) for patients aged between 1-75 years. Practice Nurses and HCAs deal with the following conditions:

  • Chronic disease management such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, diabetes and high blood pressure.
  • Minor ailments such as bites, stings, sunburn and chickenpox.
  • Earache, eye infections, hay fever, rashes and sore throats.
  • Emergency contraception and follow up contraception.

Minor Surgery

All doctors perform minor surgery where appropriate. You may need a double appointment to allow time for the procedure.

Women’s Health and Family Planning

We can advise on all aspects of family planning. Our Practice nurses can give contraceptive advice and carry out routine ‘pill’ checks, Doctors Hamilton, Carter, and Mason fit intra-uterine contraceptive devices (coils). It is routine procedure for our Nurse Practitioners/Practice Nurses to carry out smears but this can be arranged with a doctor by special request. We also give advice on all aspects of the menopause and HRT.

Ante-natal Services (Midwives)

Routine ante-natal appointments with the midwife are arranged during normal surgery times on Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.

Immunisations

Our Nurse Practitioners and Practice Nurses can be consulted on all aspects of immunisation including tetanus booster, holiday and childhood immunisations, by appointment. Child immunisation clinics are held on a Wednesday mornings.

Travelling abroad is exciting, but with so many things to see and do when you get there, the basics of health and safety are often neglected. See the above tab for more information.

Child Development

Checks on the under-five’s are made at various ages to monitor development. Your child will be invited to attend at the appropriate stage.

General Health Checks/Well Person Clinics

Our nursing team offer regular health checks and an opportunity to discuss health and social problems.
